Abstract
This document contains early estimates of motor vehicle fatalities for January and June of 2018. Data was gathered as part of NHTSA’s annual FARS data collection. Overall the data showed an estimated 17120 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes. This represented a decrease of about 3% compared to the same time period of 2017. However, the authors noted it was too early to determine why this decline occurred.
