Abstract
This study aimed to develop a better understanding of how parents approach and manage their teens’ driving during the learner stage of GDL. Fifty families were selected for study, which consisted of interviews with subjects and camera installed in the vehicle to examine parents instructing novice drivers. Overall, the study showed a number of different techniques were used to teach young drivers essential skills, and the development of a best practice guide was difficult due to individual variances among new drivers. One constant was the need for driving practice among new drivers.
