Abstract
This document contains the technical assessment report by NHTSA of the State of North Dakota Driver Education Program. The purpose of the assessment was to assist in the review of the driver education program in this State, identify program strengths and accomplishments, identify problem areas and offer suggestions for improvement. The assessment may also be used as a guide to help identify areas for improvement in the program. Major recommendation contained within this report included: establishing a formal coordinated agency process among the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT), North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (NDDPI), and the Education Standards Practice Board (ESPB) to oversee all driver education and training programs in the state. Further, it also recommended an advisory board of stakeholders be established to provide input on the implementation, monitoring, evaluation and enforcement of driver education programs.
