Abstract
This document presents the findings of a meta-analysis of GDL laws in the US, undertaken by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The objective of the report was to determine the effectiveness of GDL programs in reducing total injury and fatal crashes among drivers 15 to 20 years old. A meta-analysis of studies evaluating GDL laws since 2001. The report examined a sample of 14 selected studies across 13 different States. Results of the meta-analysis showed GDL programs as a whole were associated with statistically significant reductions in crashes for 16-year-olds and 17-year-olds, but not for 18- or 19-year-olds.
