Abstract
This factsheet contains an analysis of FARS data from 2016 about distracted driving fatalities in the US. The data was gathered through the Crash Report Sampling System (CRSS), with the 2016 data being the first collected by CRSS. The data revealed 9% of fatal crashes in 2016 were reported as distraction-related crashes, and 6% of all drivers involved in fatal crashes were reported as distracted at the time of the crash. Further, drivers aged 15 to 19 years old represented the largest proportion of drivers who were distracted at the time of the fatal crash.
