Abstract
This document is meant to act as a reference for State Highway Safety Offices (SHSOs) in selecting evidence-based countermeasures for traffic safety issues. The topics under-review were: Alcohol- and Drug-Impaired Driving, Seat Belts and Child Restraints, Speeding and Speed Management, Distracted and Drowsy Driving, Motorcycle Safety, Young Drivers, Older Drivers, Pedestrian Safety, and Bicycle Safety. The document describes major strategies and countermeasures that are relevant to SHSOs for these issues, summarizes countermeasures, and provides references to important research studies.
