Abstract        

In October-November 2021, ANSTSE conducted a virtual workshop for select State Driver Education Administrators and Lead Teacher Trainers. This video recording series provides a high-level overview of the ANSTSE Driver Education Teacher/Instructor Training System.

Intended Audience
State Administrators, program managers, educational institutions, master trainers (trainers of trainers) and school owners. Those involved with and looking to enhance their driver education teacher/instructor training and preparation systems.  

Rationale of the Workshop

Many States need technical assistance for teacher/instructor training.
Many States no longer have universities conducting teacher/instructor training.
Many States have a teacher/instructor shortage.
Some States need to define a new system for teacher/instructor training systems.
This workshop will assist States in identifying an optimal approach for teacher/instructor training.

Objectives of Workshop
This workshop will:

  • Familiarize you with the National Standards, teacher training materials and additional resources.
  • Explain how each part of the teacher training curriculum and the Stages for Driver Education Instructor Preparation Program work together.
  • Provide you with the knowledge and strategies to develop or enhance your teacher/instructor training system.
  • Review various challenges and strategies to assist States in their overall teacher/instructor training efforts.
  • NOT train you to train other teachers/instructors.

Length
Please note, these workshop recordings are 12 hours in length. The workshop was held over four days, lasting three hours each day. There are 5 recorded segments included in this video series.
